Inner city decay

Dear photo-enthusiasts,

It has been a while since I last posted a picture on this site. To be honest, I haven't been very productive lately. Too many things happening all at once!

Here is a picture taken in downtown Cleveland, in an old industrial site now abandoned. I took a roll of BW film to try capturing the decay brought by the economic downfall of the city. Depressing scenes are unfortunately common here.

Info: Delta 400, F100, 24mm prime, Split ND filter + some burning and sharpening in PS

While it's definitely captured decay, it doesn't shout inner city to me.
It's the sort of thing I'd expect to see more on the outskirts, not inside.

I like the framing you have done for the shot. But i cant give an accurate thought on the shot because of the size of the image. But it looks good - nice levels

Without the title I would not have thought this to be inner city decay as there is not enough context to place it in the city.

However, I do like the photo and you caught the decay well. Hope you took some shots from inside the building - looks interesting.

Perhaps pulling out a little would give more of a feeling of decay, showing the rest of the environment where the factory sits in.

Technically it looks okay to me.

Thank you for your comments! Sorry for the late reply. I was away for a few days.

I agree with Paul and Roger that 'Inner city' may evoke something different. During its golden age, Cleveland has known a rapid industrialization that has led to the multiplication of factories and warehouses close to the center of the city. Then the industrialization and economic wealth abruptly stopped but the old buildings were left standing. The city suburbs have further grown and expanded. As a result, you do not need to go far to find abandonned industrial buildings. Actually, the closer you get from the center of the city the more you find them!

But I get your point, and I will change the title...

Roger: I have taken some shots inside the building too, but nothing really exciting. Too many perspective lines showing pronounced wide angle distortion.

I hope to be able to post more Cleveland street scenes soon.
