Fantastic vista. Wish I could see it bigger but understand the constraints...

I really enjoyed browsing through your gallery - your "landscapes" file, especially.

Roger, I agree with Tuna. I'd love to see this bigger, but as it stands now, I find it very appealing. I love the transition in the color of the sky.

    Thanks Tuna and John.

Don't know if this is going to work but here is a 5000 x 719 the original is 15666 x 2252

    http://www.readingr.com/My%20WEB%20G...ma%205000.html

Any idea what the best resolution for display would be?

Tuna - thanks for looking at the web site - I seem to do more landscapes than any other type of photography so probably better at it than the rest.

Plan this year is to do more creative work time permitting.

The link worked, but it shows the exposure difference between the photos clearly.
If you can adjust the levels on each image to match this will be superb.

    Re: Ink Pen Panorama

    Paul,

I think what your seeing is the joins where the photo's are merged as bands in the photo. Unless I'm looking at the wrong bits.

The exposure across all the photos are the same, focus the same and speed the same, the reason for the gradation is the polarising filter going from 70degrees to the sun to 190-200 degrees.

Whats the best way of merging these so that you don't get the banding or what is the best tool to blend these bits?

Hm, what tool did you use?
There was another thread where Photoshop CS was introducign artefacts in the image that did not show up when I used Canon's Photostitch.

    Re: Ink Pen Panorama

It's subtle, but I see different brightness at some of the joins.
PS confirms it by selecting small rectangles of similar subject.
On the left most join there is about a 5 level decrease from the left hand to the right hand.

BTW: That's something I find really interesting (but not often needed) in the histogram in PS, that it works on the selection rectangle, and gives the mean and standard deviation so you have measures of what you can see in the histogram as the peaks narrow in the left hadn part, and in the next stitch they are wider and slightly shifted left (darker).

I see a gradation of intensity of about 5 levels from left to right in every image. I'ts most obvious at the join lines obviously.
I wonder, is this an indication of something happening in the camera?
Or ,aybe is it an effect of the polariser?
The polariser will have a different effect as you look left and right, with a more pronounced effect 90 degrees from the direction of the sun.

Can I cut and paste and post examples form the big one?
    Paul,

I just finished re-merging the whole lot using the manual procedure rather than the auto which had not aligned everything properly.

Check this version and feel free to modify/mark it as you see fit. http://www.readingr.com/My%20WEB%20G...ma%205000.html

    Paul,

I only have the Canon Photostich program for panorama. Elements and PSP X don't have panorama tools built in.

It's a great panorama and I see no signs of any joins.
    Very well done.

Thanks to everyone for the help on this one - the joins are in an earlier version where I let the software to all the work automatically. The final result is a manual conversion and alignment of the joins.

I am now really pleased with the results and the day was something else - so tranquil with nothing but kestrels, skylarks, partridges, and sheep to keep me company.

Also learnt a lot more about taking panorama's and I must remember my tripod next time.

    Roger

PS: Paul - if you can still see the problems then can you point them out.
