This is a very poignant photo. Very nice. It conveys strongly how well loved they are.

This image could be much stronger if less space was wasted on the stalks of the roses. Take the flowers and place the blooms in-between the photos, and see how you like that. I think that would put much more emphasis on the portraits, whereas right now they are a distant second to the flowers in the frame.

How to tell the most experienced shooter in a group? They have the least amount of toys on them.

Re: I'll Be Watching You (forever)

I guess what I'm trying to capture is a concept of time marching on... but some things do not change.

The rose is past it's prime with the flowers starting to wilt and leaves falling off. The lighting is not bright suggesting (hopefully) the passage of time. Likewise the people in the photos are now much older. Their younger images, however, are frozen in time by the photographs. Likewise, the love of one's child is also timeless.

Seb, I did shoot this without the flowers and just the fallen leaves. These are Ok. I've also shot it with just the two photos, but lost the concept of time. Once I get the composition worked out, I'll pull the stereo cord (a distraction for me).

    Thanks for the comments...

After reading your second post, I would suggest having the roses age a little bit more, maybe even let them sag a little.

    just my thoughts
