And question to laptop users: Depending on the angle of my screen, an image can look pretty darn good one way, then too dark/light another. How do you choose the best angle? Or is 90 degrees a given? Because this shot looked pretty crisp when I loaded, and now looks too dark.
I love garlic. My husband loves my cologne. Together...
It's a bit of an odd idea to but cologne and garlic together to say the least! lol
However, the end result is quite striking. I don't see how I could criticise, the result is superb.
D,
This one really made me smile. A lot. I like the concept, I love the implementation. This is just pure fun. Especially nice is the pretty sparkle refraction that makes such neat light shadows across the bottom of the scene. The understated colors work well for this image, would probably work great under saturated or black and white too.
Superb!! Excellent idea that tells a great story, I like the current shot but would also be interested to see how the patterns of light work in black and white.
Love the light reflection on the garlic and a nice, strong blue tone coming through. However, I would try to crop it to allow the full garlic clove(?) to be in the picture.
Well done creative still life! I'm not sure from you other post how much you adjusted it, but it looks fine on my monitor and the shadowy blue is a good contrast for the black and white. Like the hint of color in the garlic and how you have effectively cut the garlic with the frame.
I really like this, wine, good food, women, and song lol:
One very minor nitpic - there seems to be a very dark line (shadow?) at the bottom of the garlic which annoys me slightly because its too straight and doesn't look right, suggest you clone it out before you print and hang. Or you could add a little more space for the shadow.

Really good concept and execution on this fun yet cool shot.I like the framing very much and cutting the garlic off works for me. The reflected crystal-like lighting really adds a great classy mood. CLKunsts undersaturated idea seems interesting and if you give it a try I would like to see it. Nice work, dbutler
Garlic and perfume! who woulda thought? I like it though, in addition on all the positive feed back above I'll add that I love how the light plays around your image and especially on the garlic. Nice shot D.

Thank you all for taking the time and for the praise. I knew it was a weird concept but just had to try. The truth is that my background is....
The window ledge of the glass block window in my bathroom. I've taken many a shot there because of the play of light as it goes through the glass. But most items don't fit very well on the narrow ledge so I have to pick carefully. LOL.
1) The original. You'll note the line on the left which is right where the window is about to open up to the bathroom. I tried to clone it but it simply looked far too obvious so I simply cropped it out. I also increased the contrast by 10 in my original post above. Since I only crop in the obvious dimensions, I have to work around what I get. I also liked the crop because it made the background a lot less obvious. And Roger, now you can see what the dark line is.

3) B & W via channel mixer with red at 50, and 25 each for blue and green. There were a lot of other combos that I really liked, but since I had to settle for just one I thought I'd throw this one in.
D, I'm liking all of these, but the desaturated image really stands out for me. But , i do like a hint of color in there. i tried making a duplicate layer and converting to b& w as you had done, and then reduce the opacity of the layer to 50%. really liked the subtle effect. btw, have you thought about sending this to Kenneth Cole, it's very good.
