    I love my book

Makes a change to see a more natural looking pic, with no heads cut off from me, doesn't it lol.
I'm trying to get away from ps work.

My great niece wouldn't smile or pose for me. All she wanted to do was have her book.
I told my sister to let her have the book and, hey presto, out came a smile!

    What do you think?

    Alison,

Another great shot of a child! I love the colors here, definately having a brightly colored book adds an interesting dynamic to the picture. Just a few nitpicking things however; on the right hand side, there is a white sleeve (?) that is a tad distracting and, you didn't cut off her head this time, but you did cut off her right arm.

Other than that, a great shot! Definately an improvement from last time!

I could have cloned out the white on her left but I am trying to get away from ps work and it's not easy getting a child to stand where I want her (where the bg is nice) when, just moments before this photograph, her daddy and nanna were trying to force her to pose and smile but she was like this...

Nice. The way it is framed is a little off. Too little space on the left, too much at the bottom. I hear you when you say you want to get away fom PS work, but I'd certainly clone out the arm at right. That and the framing are all that seperates this photo from a professional portrait.

Under the category of you can't always get what you want, it would have been great if the book was turned over and less in focus. Ideally, I'd want a larger aperture ang good focus on her face. As it is, the book kind of competes with her when what you want is the idea that the book is there, but all the attentionon the girl.

Wow! A professional photograph! Cool I'm getting close then lol.
Thank you both for your comments and suggestions. I know I wanted to stay away from the ps work but I had a go anyway. How is this...

I like the sleeve? Cloned out but I am not sure the blur works on this.....It makes the book odd, I think I would stick with the cloned white thing and leave the blur out. I think that would work well........It definitely brought her face out alot having the background all black.
