I got ALL my eyes on you.

Think my biggest weakness with macros is always DOF being too shallow.

Does it work with his face partially behind the flowers or not?

    All C&C welcome!

I love macro, but it can be so frustrating at times. You got in nice and close with good sharp eyes, but, yes, the petals are in the way. But still a good catch.

Yeah, macro + dof = obsessive nightmare! Twisting the image plane just a hair can set off the dof so much too. But, yes - I think his head behind the flowers does hurt the shot quite a bit. Very good otherwise, in fact the dof is virtually perfect here.

    is it a bee ?

love to discover things in the macros that are otherwise not visible to the naked eye,
I would have been great without the petals, otherwise it is great as is,

never knew a "bee" had so many eyes

Cara, I f****** loathe spiders, but this is an awesome shot. Uhm, but no, that is a bee or a wasp, right?

Thanks everyone. Wishing I had his head up over the flowers, but oh well.

Thanks Daq I'm actually a total bug-phobe. Bees are some of the few I don't completely loath. Spiders totally freak me out and I still shoot them, just not get too close. House centipedes make me scream and run out of the room... never going to be able to shoot those.

Yep, it's a bee. Wool Carder Bee... I believe this was a male. I posted some mating shots on here before. They're a very small solitary leaf-cutter bee. They really like the sedum in the backyard, so they're readily available for macro practice.

Armando-- bees have two compound eyes and three primitive eyes. The three simple ones are on the top of the head are easy to miss unless you have a very close look.

Another spider for daq. Still not sharp as my bee though.

Cute pair of Daring Jumping Spiders Cara! I love those little guys, they're so silly and tough looking all at the same time.
