Humongous Redwood & 40,000 lb. Burl

Here is a redwood from Prairie Creek redwoods. I certainly like this one better in color, but tried a B&W just to see. Had been reading logging redwood logging history books lately, and the old B&Ws gave me the urge to edit some pics to B&W. No typo, the burl is over 20 tons. Wish the man in the photo had his camera too - I'm a hack, but he's a photographer. The redwoods are not easy for anyone really. For some reason, I almost prefer the bleached look in both of these. Only with this one particular redwood.

Nice tree! Try adding a blue filter to your B&W conversion and then bumping the contrast by 15-20 I think you might like the B&W even more

If the man weren't there it would just look like a nice tree. The man gives scale so nice work.
Try jetrim's advice. He's good at converting.

I think a tree like that needs more contrast, to really bring out the shadows. Too much gray shading makes it a tad flat, IMHO.

looks slightly overexposed, maybe 1/2 stop, though might just be the hot mid day sun. I'd crop up a bit to cut off the hot bright leaves.
