I like the tone... was this shot with film or digital? If digital, I'd love to know what conversion technique you're using... I jump between channel mixer and desaturation... it's always hit or miss.

Of course, if I need to quote the rule, you may want to lower the horizon a tad so that it's not dead on center... but I personally like the horizon where it is... can you tell I'm a rule breaker.

I like that the men stand out so strongly, and your black border helps with that. I'm a complete newbie, but I'll say this: If there would be some way to bring out the path that the men are walking in better, I think that might improve the photo some.

    Seb,

You wasted all that time on architecture and all along your calling was landscapes - LOL:

Now before Ronoco pipes in how many rules did you break in this photo? (Woops forgot my own rule; Their guidelines) LOL:

Seriously though - can't fault this photo which proves that they are only guidelines.

    Seb,

Another beauty. I really like the sky, the look and feel of the tall grass and of course the people; where are they going? where did they come from? and what is on the other side?

    Nice job.

ltilley: This was shot with a DSLR in RAW mode (hence in colors) and converted into a b&w in post-processing. I started with a channel mixer layer, set to 100% red. Then, I bumped the black level of the neutral copoment in a selective colors layer. That's all there is to it but I must say that the ligthing and the tones where plain fantastic to begin with. Mother Earth made my job pretty easy. Thanks for commenting.

CMBessette: Well I guess that I might have dodged the path to make it a bit brighter. I haven't even tried to dodge or burn this picture but it would probably do the trick. Thank you for sharing your view.

    Jurgen: Thanks a lot!

Roger: lol, You are hilarious! Thanks a lot for the good words. I never sold a print but you may pm me if you are interested.

CF: I could answer to all these questions but do you really wanna know?? lol Thanks for your support.

A very beautiful photo. Powerful and thought provoking. Like Coastal Flyer said it makes you wonder. It makes me think of books The Grapes of Wrath or The Jungle. It has that feeling to it for me. I think that you would have no trouble selling prints of it if you decided to.

What works so well for me in this photo is the movement that flows throughout..the vast sky and clouds move my eye in one direction, then the field on the right flows while the path curves to the left. It provides great interest and I am instantly drawn to the people and ask myself...where are they going? Beautiful.

It appears you found true inspiration from this locale. The continuing series of shots from there have all been very enjoyable.

    Re: humans too

Well I am surprised to see people coming back at this photograph after those few weeks.

Then again, thanks to all of you for your support. This particular location was extremely inspiring. The funny thing is that I didn't felt like I was crafting anything particular that day, I realized what happened a week later or so...

    regards
