    Hoodoos over lunch

The clouds looked interesting so I went out and shot a little over my lunch break today. I used a 10 stop filter to get a 15s exposure.

I think that if you took to the snow with the dodge tool it would lift some of the dull greyness.

Yep, the snow is underexposed a bit. I think an overall increase in the exposure would not only bring up the snow to true white but would probably bring a little more detail on the rocks. Not sure how it would affect the clouds though. I think I'd crop a sliver of the sky out also.

Do you have, or have you looked into graduated ND filters? If not, that's my big suggestion. This photo is great, however as noted the snow is a bit dull, though the sky is quite nice. With the right filter, in the future you may not have to edit the snow.

I think the sky is more interesting in this photo. I would suggest a crop of the bottom taking out the grass/shrub growth. It would help give the photo an overall "clean" feel, and put the horizon out of center.

I agree with Dwaugh, a graduated ND filter would have solved the snow being underexposed. Still a nice shot though!

    Thanks for the comments!
I'll try some of the editing suggestions when I get a chance. I don;t have a graduated ND but I hope to get one sometime. I would think it would darken the hoodoos that sitck up above the horizon too, wouldn't it? I may just try to use a mask in Photoshop to brighten the ground separately from the sky which I don't think should go any lighter.
