    Homage to Chipotle

Used the lighting like I did in my last photo.. Though i would like some fire instead. Any good tutorials you guys know of? I also used the NIK HDR effects software for the first time. I'm pretty much never touching photomatix again.

Man, I've never felt like that after having chipotle. Can I ask what Nik offers that surpasses photomatix?

Control points and multiple algorithms. They have a 15 day free trial. Give it a go.

Very nice staging and execution. Did you try it with the lightning coming from the rocket ship instead? Kind of an invader from Mars thing.

This is down by the ferry building, right?

    Re: Homage to Chipotle

While looking up Nik, I found a link to the site for an engine called Oloneo.

It looks like the beta is free, and it looks freaking amazing. It can do adjustments for individual light sources. I will be downloading and trying it.

I use photomatix for almost everything, but it has been a long time since I have liked the results I get with it alone. Too hard for me to get something that looks dramatic but not overdone, and if I hit it hard as I like to, I get too much purple shift. So I do tons of hand blending. I would rather not do that, so I am going to give this Oloneo a try.

The results you got in this picture certainly look nice. I like a tad more texture in the result, but what you did is certainly good.

    Check these out:
    http://www.brushking.eu/387/smokey-fire-brushes.html
    http://www.brushking.eu/120/9-fire-brushes.html

or just do a search for "fire brushes for photoshop"

Be careful though, addon brushes can really clog up your brush palette (I have about 900 in mine and forget what half of them do

Just to re-affirm, NIK plug-ins ROCK they are far and away my favorites over photomatix, OnOne, and Topaz

I checked out the Oleneo plugin. I got the beta and im gonna give it a run on some old raw files in the next few days. the relighting scenes looks freaking amazing in the vids.

Thanks for the brushes. Those fit the bill.

Hey J, you have any issues with your computer hanging once you started using Nik Efex? I really want to like it, but it seems that everything goes to hell when I try to save.

With the first version yes (everyone did) with the latest update no. It does save images as 16 bit prophoto so that might be bogging your system down. Depends on how ballin your computer is.

I'm wondering if the issue is with the trial. By comp is balling enough...I think. 4gb ram and a decent processor running 64bit win 7

    Re: Homage to Chipotle

are you running 32 bit nik in 64 bit photoshop or 64 bit photoshop with 32 bit nik? Im in windows 7 and frankly my only complaint is photoshop bogging (even with a 6 core cpu and 8 gigs of ddr3 and 10k rpm hd's on a raid). Disable scratch disk and that might help. It did for me. Im still good with photomatix for tone mapping a single image but for combining them nik seems to be the ticket.

Great concept. I like what you did with the main subject and all, but the shot itself has a lot of objects in the scene and is therefore somewhat busy. Good pose by the actor btw.
