    holocaust memorial

Ran across this in Miami Beach yesterday. This is an INCREDIBLY MOVING monument to those who died concentration camps in WWII, just hope I did it justice. Any suggestions or comments highly appreciated, and will PP the rest of the batch and start a new thread in viewfinder, based on feedback here.

That last one looks way oversharpened.
It looks far better in colour, this shot.
I feel there just isn't enough luminance contrast to make a really effective image.

Thanks Paul, here it is in color, with the sharpening reduced from the RAW output:

They are all moving but #2 really got to me as soon as I saw it in the gallery. The clouds in two make it more dramatic and thus IMHO the most effective. Excellent work.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

I like them all, including the third one in b/w. But #2 is the one I can't seem to stop looking at.

    Re: holocaust memorial

The background sky kills the first one for me but the other two are very moving.
I do prefer the color version of the third.

    Re: holocaust memorial

Thanks for all the feedback. This really is an amazing piece of sculpture, the photos only hint at the scale, but the people clinging to the bottom of the arm are life size (5'-6' tall) and the whole thing is probably around 60'. The sky is problematic in several shots as these were taken at the exact time the latest cold front moved in; ten minutes later it was pouring.

GB, if you ever get down this way, it is 1 block Northwest of the convention center in Miami Beach at the corner of Dade Blvd & Meridian Ave (should be easy to spot on Google Earth too) it IS worth seeing in person

    Re: holocaust memorial

    Hi Jet,
The photos have a high impact. I especially like Photo 2; the sky adds a lot to the whole feeling of the shot. The small portion of clear sky symbolises a small chance to the good but the hope is still there. Well done!

Powerful sculpture, #2 does it for me, everything working, should add it to the B&W section. S
