Kelly - now you have me blushing...

Thank you for the too-kind words. I haven't been "gone" that long - but it's always nice to be back here!

I really was thinking about where you had gone lately, and was about to post a "Where's Tuna?" thread.

I am a big fan of your work and really look forward to seeing what you'll be showing us next. Even if I don't always comment, I'm appreciating it.

    Re: Hollywood Cemetery

I like the subject, the framing and the b&w but whats bothers me about this one is the obvious harsh sunlighthitting the scene, especially on the leaves. The sky being blown out does not bother me too much because I like the top of the cross in that neagative space , but the harsh light is very apparent in the leaves

I like the exposure and the contrast, but I think the trees on both edges bother me. They sorta clutter the composition and take focus away from the two main objects.

    Re: Hollywood Cemetery

    Thanks for the comments, guys.

Kelly - there were even more trees and shrubs intruding from the sides that I have already cloned out. Maybe removing more of the tops would help at the sides.

Gary - I agree about the blown-out highlights of the ground caused by my exposing for the shadows. I considered burning in the leaves but didn't want to lessen the effect of the shadow contrast.

Tha other thing that bothers me about the image is the near half-and-half composition. If I only had another gravestone or something in the front-right to balance everything...
