    Holding on

The Palnackie Man - Ed Iglehart - told me that trees are important because they hold the atmosphere onto the earth ...

So I thought of him when we saw this, the tree struggling to hold on to the sky and the earth.

Nice capture, I'd crop some down from the top to bring things in closer and see the root structure? S

Nice photograph. Maybe crop on the top, bottom and right, with the tree off-centered. Also, try cloning the clouds farther down so that they are closer to the tree, otherwise they will be lost during cropping.

A dose of sharpening might help improve too.

Well, a big print can do that
I wanted the gap between tree and clouds, it's not meant to be easy to hold on to the air.
I think it needs the clouds.

    Re: Holding on

In light of your title and story, I think the photo is just right. For me, the "weight" of the clouds and earth on the left offset the more centered position of the tree which gives the photo a pleasing balance, IMHO. "Holding on" many times is a struggle!

Thanks, you made me think about what ought to be there.
I'm thinking of cropping from the right, to remove that stray cloud bottom right corner.
In my vision of the scene, it doesn't belong there - this is full frame.
