    Hockey

Not sure if posting Flickr links here is a no-no: I just thought it'd be better than resizing the images to very small sizes. If it's frowned upon, lemme know, and my apologies in advance.

Anyway, was just playing around with my new camera and thought I'd take some hockey shots. This one is pretty much posed, but I liked the way it turned out.

Thanks for any comments or ideas!

    Edit: Added original image.

    Re: Hockey

    Welcome !
It's not a no-no to post links, but you're more likely to get comments if you upload the image here.
Even at a lower resolution, then with a click-through link to the flickr original.
Or perhaps use our Gallery section for the full size image ?

Because I'm not familiar with the equipment, I have no idea what it is.
I can see an out of focus helmet in the background, I think.
But the sharp object in the right foreground I don't recognise immediately as a glove.
Simply because I don't watch, photograph, or play ice hockey.
Not a sport that's very big here in the UK.

Now hockey (you'd call it field hockey?) I know well.
Was forced to play it at school, and my father was county level player in his youth.

    Re: Hockey

Apparently, it's alright to hotlink to Flickr if you link back to the original image, so that'll work.

Anyway, I do forget that hockey isn't as popular of a sport in many countries. It's definitely a helmet in the background, and it's a glove in the foreground, holding the butt-end of a stick.

    Re: Hockey

Without the written explanation it didn't work for me even though I go to see Ice Hockey occasionally. It took me a while to figure out what I was seeing.

    Re: Hockey

I liked it, the helmet being out of focus is good, because you can still tell what it is.

I love hockey, and wish I lived somewhere were I wasn't eh only person I know that watches it. I used to like in upstate Ohio, and moving to Podunk West Virginia, I'm the only person thats ever held a stick in their hand on the ice.

It is a fun sport to watch, and photograph (more challenging which makes it fun). I've tried repeatedly but to no avail. Welcome, nice flickr, look forward to more.

    Re: Hockey

We went bowling in the sports centre, and there was some dark, unlit cave next to the bar, is that the rink? Maybe I should see what the restrictions are on cameras for a game.

    Re: Hockey

i knew what it was right away, although im a big hockey fan. i actually don;t like the helmet in the background as it, because it blends in to the glove to much. i think it needs a bit more separation.

    Re: Hockey

I can see that, about the glove color blending. I have a red/black glove that might have worked better, but it was packed away for my game that night .
