Is the foreground water? I think it's better to have may be a sailboat on the water. That should add some depth to the image or may be as a lead-in to the middle-ground, which is the prettiest part of the image, if I may say that
As is, the bottom part looks like something in black & white and suddenly something with beautiful green color grew out of it.
The water (if that's what it is) seems to throw the whole photo out of balance for me. It might be the color of the water or the fact that the shore's edge is so straight. Maybe if there had been an irregular shore line or an inlet, it might have helped. As is, I think I'd almost rather see the shot starting somewhere near the edge of the land line and including more sky.
Had to edit my post. I went back and looked at the photo again. It's definitely the color and straight edge of the water. It makes the beautiful landscape behind it seem to spring up from a large gray border.
I agree. The water shocks my eye. I keep thinking it's part of the frame. Maybe it's just too bright for the land. I would suggest trying a crop--much less water.
I like the contrast between the bright tidy fields and the dark brooding moorland behind, the water doesn't worry me but it doesn't contribute to the image either. The trees on the foreshore could do with being a bit lighter, they contrast a bit much with the bright water.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...
I really like this shot, Tom. It reminds me of a landscape I shot across Lough Rae, but the mountains in the background appear similar to the The Burren....so I am curious where this was taken. I'd like to see the bright clouds toned down a bit, and maybe a little more contrast in the clouds.

Tom - Are you trying to pull a fast one on us? This one seems like two different photos cut and pasted together, and there appears to be some evidence of that where the water and land meet in the far left. Regardless, there may be too much contrast between the water (seem to be bathing in sun) and foreground trees (almost pitch black). I like the countryside ... Looks stereotypical British. Makes me want to visit ..........

Hello Everybody
I expected the lake to be a bone of contention. The hillside alone would be a pretty picture indeed but for me a bit too post cardy and chocolate boxish. Less of the lake I think would be better to be sure. As with all my photography, this is what was in the viewfinder and I have never added to or stiched images (yet!).

Hello ksbryan
This one was taken in Wales and the water is the Tolybont Reservoir. The Burren is a place of magic and wonder. Have you been there?

I have to go with the others regarding the lake. It just looks like it doesn't 'quite' belong there. The light on the rest is lovely though, although I agree that a smidgen more sky would help.
Nice! I like the water. The shore line does seem a little dark.
The only thing that I would like to see is a little less contrast between the green hillside and the mountain in the background.
Still looks like a nice place to take a nap.
