    Hidden Bench

This was taken at a local park preserve a few weeks ago....... It was actually well hidden and way off path.....

I tried to preserve the sky and detail in the back but it was midday and the sun was BRIGHT - What could I have done to make this picture better?

its a great shot well composed, the ground before the bench and the tall standing trees give a great symmetry, but my prefrence has always been for color, i love the green of evergreen trees, but these trees are so dark they mute with the others and lack that sharp definition ,i would of chosen the color version even if the sky was alittle blown out,i'm sure your editing software could have reduced the bright contrast of the sky.

Here is the color version, I feel like it is lacking the emotion of the b/w one though........ what do you think??

I like the b&w but I think you should layer it and brighten the bench and make it stand out more. The bench legs as well. I like the trees leaning back as well. Nice shot.

Personally, I like the depth of shade. It adds gravity to the scene.

    Re: Hidden Bench

Chow - It is well composed, but I feel the lighting just wasn't cooperative that day. But it's hard to tell if the light ever really illuminates this area because the tall trees may block it out all the time. Everything seems way too dark except the background sky, which is the other extreme. It's just tough as heck to get extremely contrasty shots like this to show what our eyes adjust to...
