I'm new to the forum and decided on sharing a self-portrait that really needs some critique.



I can do a reshoot and I'd love to know what I could do differently.

Welcome to the forum, Alex. I like the idea here. i think the compsition is ok, but personally i would like to see alittle more of the top of the head. It's chopped a bit much.
The entire image looks gray. there are no tones and highlights or dark shadows.
I'm not sure what you have in the image to work with but it could be you just need to adjust your levels and bring out the highlights and shadows. Otherwise you will need to shoot this again with better lighting. You might want to experiment with a light coming up from underneath that will light your face a bit.

The chopped upper part of your head is bother some. It also could use a little contrast. Comp is good and I too like what you where after.
