Here's my face and a bit more

So here's a project I recently finished. I wanted to do some mix media to try out techniques.
there's some stuff I all ready marked for corrections but I'm curious as to what you guys think.
Love it, hate it, have at it!

I wrote up a summary on the making process, in case you're curious.

    you can find it here

scrolled through the write up...looks like quite a bit of work, but then again I know nothing about most of the steps you took. cool concept, might be neat to see how realistic you can make the anatomy and all that.

    Welcome to the forums.
Looks very good but the black shirt below the camera just comes off as a big black spot.
Also there is something next to your left shoulder that could be cloned out.
Really like the light on your face and upper torso.
    Keep Shooting!

If I were offering a critique of the base portrait, I'd say it was well done - professional and contemporary, technically sound, and revealing of personality.

If I were offering a critique of the concept and originality, I'd applaud it.

Taken together it's an excellent photo.

The only thing I think you could improve on is that the "cut away" portion doesn't have enough shading and shadow to look truly three-dimesional.

What Frog said...plus I think the black "planks" on the **** are extra (a matter of taste)
Also the skin in your face is rather soft, again personally I prefer guy pics with more skin texture.
    Great concept.

I like the shot as well. I, too, find the face a bit muted, but it is an artistic choice and I am fine with it.

Re: Here's my face and a bit more

Welcome to the forum. I like the portrait for the most part. I'm wishing for a bit more lighting and detail in the mid waist area and forearms as the black shirt is soaking up all the light and exposure. thats not too big a deal, and really a nitpik.
the face looks muted compared to the stronger light hitting your upper chest and neck. Also, the neck area is a warm skin tone while the face is cool and flat.
Those are just my immediate observations, but overall I think its pretty cool.
