    Henri

Very tight crop of a(nother) nearly forgotten image. Does it work? Could it work (if only...)?

I like it the side profile works for me the details and texture are awesome and love the Grunge type background. Very nicely done.

    Re: Henri

Dray, there are two light spots in his nostril that are bothering me and the left side of his face (shown on our right, of course,) is not in clear focus --- I'm not sure if that's the look you were aiming for but, I think that, with the really good out of focus background, Henri's portrait would be stronger if all of his face were in clear focus. There is also a speck on his collar (on the left) that I'd edit out.

I have to say, I am always impressed with your work and thrilled to see you posting from your archives. Keep 'em coming!

    Re: Henri

    Thanks Ray.

Penny - thanks for the feedback. I did shoot at a wide aperture on purpose for selective focus, but maybe it didn't work as planned. Good call on the light spots/white speck. It may be dirt. The original scan was anything but clean. My own big problems with the image were the right eye (left in frame, doesn't look sharp to me) and the lips (highlights blown out).

Glad you've enjoyed the postings from my archives. I haven't been able to shoot anything new for a while, so I've been going back through my old work to see if there's anything worth resuscitating.
