    He!! Rod

I shot these a few years ago. Our Local Chevy Dealership owner had it in the showroom. Ju8st wish I had a wide angle lens at the time.

The problem here is the location of the subject as the background is so cluttered and the subject doesn't stand out enough.
I'd have taken the pics, too though and will leave it to the experts to say how it can be fixed.
    Was it for sale?

I agree with frog, your problem is the location here.... The thing is though, although i am not much into cars myslef, i believe here, you got too excited over seeing the hot rod... i know from past experience that this is one of the most dangerous things to happen to a photographer... you disregard everything else for that picture....you just have to take it...and then sometimes what happens is your mind only sees the subject, and in your mind selective focus occurs, hence you dont see the other distracting details....

Other than a reshoot i dont see how you could fix this... it would take a hell of a lot of photo retouching to really clean it up....and i am talking about months of work...:mad2:

So for someone who is not into cars or hot rods, these pictures dont do anything for me... the colours are not as vibrant as i would have liked and the background, with the "no tresspassing chain" is too distracting...
And to the exception of the 3rd image, the car feels small... a lower angle would have done it more justice in matters of how grandiose it should be....

However, i am able to share with your enthusiasm about the car...

You could fool around with any car, and post them here, i'm sure there are those who would be able to direct and help more than this! good effort!

nice but technically challenged hot rod shots..

sometimes thow u just have to accept what circumstances permit.. for what they are.. they are okay..

if they were intended for pubication they would not be okay..

whats wrong with them is pretty obvious it dosnt need an expert to point it out..

I love the responses to this, they kind of leave alot open, and really do not direct the OP at all. Basically what IS being said, is in this situation you may as well forget it. Not at all true.

When coming across a subject with numerous background distractions, you can always make a "study" of the subject. IOW, get in close, find intersting details, and make images of those. In a series of detail shots, we still get the whole picture. For example, one photo could be of the curves over the wheel, another of the headlight, perhaps one of the front wheel assembly. Shots of the exposed parts of the engine can be of interest. There's almost always a possibility, it's just learning to see them at the time.

Good points, Payn. In this situation it would be next to impossible to get a great shot of the whole car in this unattractive environment. So, isolating parts of the car for selective shots can get around that and build up a rather nice collection of shots that would together be able to convey the beauty of this hotrod.
