I like this. The color is grand. I think the hay block in the foreground really adds necessary perspective.

Roger, the colors here are working great. I'm not "comfortable" with the framing of this though. Having the hay bail take up the entire quarter of the right side does not "feel" right to me, but I do not think it's wrong just my feeling. I'm thinking that if either the top of the hay bail or bottom were showing allowing either the sky or the foreground to flow to the end of the frame would help. Also, the horizon line is very close to center, but a crop could bring that down.

My thoughts exactly - guess what, the thing was to high to get that pic from that angle. I had already tried to crop so that horizon was lower in the frame but that makes it slightly better but still doesn't work.

Don - glad you like it and I agree about the colours - I will be going back to see if I can make a hole in the hedge to get a better photo.

Here is the photo of the whole haystack so that you can put my comments in perspective. Going to take my film AE1 and the wide angle to see if I can get it with that camera,

Actually this last one is much better than the first one and using a wide angle might flatten the scenery too much in the back of this shot.

Roger, absolutely. This last shot is right on. We get the enormous perspective of the haystack, the color combination of the yellow/blues/and greens, the crop row in the right leading us into the distance. . .and the lighting was perfect. I do not think using the wide angle would get you a better shot than this. . .you may lose the distant bg and also include more to the scene that is needed. You can frame this one as it is. Great work
