    Hardin Bridge

I covered this subject at the request of a couple of friends. The bridge is to be replaced this spring. The bridge is still best known for a murder that took place many years ago. I wanted to give it that mood when I took the picture. What do you think?

I think you done well here Greg. The contrast is working nicely to get the bridge to stand out. The point of view is good as well as the composition. It does look dreary and isolated.

I especially like the bendy rails on either side here and i feel Greg there is not a lot of improvement to be made here, if any. Good shot Greg.

Good shot, good composition. But I think it'd be more sharpen.

    Frog, Thanks again.
Z, Your inlaws really live in beautiful country. I love riding through Bartow County.
Irina, Thanks I did sharpen it this one is a little softer than the original. It must be the web resizing.
A few weeks ago Aaron sent me a Yashica 124G here is the bridge using the Yashica 400 Neopan and a Yellow filter. I flipped it in PPing because I felt it looked better.

If that's what you want, how about try another shot one on a foggy day, night, morning....?

Or may be I've watched a movie too many.

Anyhow, I prefer the first one.

    Greg,

You certainly captured the mood - well done. What was the murder?

I am not sure of the details just that it involved a little girl. I think she was killed and tossed over. My dad was young when it happend it must have been in the late 40's or 50's. The bridge was built in 43. Funny thing, I worked in Bartow County 14 years and passed the road this bridge is on every working day and never knew it was there.

I think the first is very good and the second is better. I like the wider perspective and that the railing on right doesn't go off frame.

    Re: Hardin Bridge

    Greg,

I have come back to this several times and I just figured out what I would change - this is just my opinion - that is I would like a tad more space on top of the bridge. Everything else is spot on and could not be improved for me, its just I feel its a bit cramped on top.

    Re: Hardin Bridge

Frog thanks again also Thanks Roger you have a great eye for detail and help me a lot. I will look at the original, but I don't think I cropped this. There was a huge sign on the right that would have been hard to clone so I avoided it.

Greg, you flipped this right...I like 2nd better..personally like things sharpened a bit more. I think the exposure on the road leading away is better and the bridge leading right then road curving left is better visually for me.
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

    Re: Hardin Bridge

Rod the first one is digital. I have sharpened it and the original is sharper than the one you see here. The second one is film and I didn't sharpen it, but shoot from the left side on the second shot and flipped it to look like the first. If you look at the plaque on the bridge you can tell the second one was flipped. To me the bridge just didn't look right in the left side of the frame.Thank's for your input.

    Re: Hardin Bridge

I actually like the first better. The second image becomes too ridged in certain places, disctracting my eye. I can't decide which crop I like better, what does the original crop look like if you dont mind me asking?
