Harbingers

The first notice of season's change come from ivy climbing high in trees. Along the roadsides Solomon's Seal is yellowing up and getting translucent along with milkweed, wild grape and some early coloring of sumac. I really like the light coming through the foliage.

"turning" foilage in the Bay Area. ;)
I think the lighting is a bit harsh (you said it was noon, right? I always seem to get bad lighting at noon!), making the details a little lost and I would have loved to see more detail in #1 for sure - very nice!
I think there should be greater DOF in the other two, to really make the leaves pop.

The hills should be turned brown around the bay area if I remember correctly. I missed the fall color when I was stationed there (but Not the color white suring winter ).
I don't think I would get the color in the ivy without the light from a high sun passing through the leaves here. The reflected light is more burgundy in color. Still nice but it doesn't jump at you like that.
You got me thinking about dof (like I should have before pushing the button ) but I think I would use less dof to blur out the background rather than more. The aperture range is real limited on the S30 so I don't pay as much attention to it as I should.

before this place we live in...w e lived on a third floor apartment and I got to see the tops of telephone poles and rooflines and the ivy turning red and orange was my favorite thing ever---it's like I got to watch the seasons by the ivy....

I think out of all of them the backlit leaf look cool ,,,wondering if you can close in a little on it and desaturate just a smidgen....

I like the third pic of the light luminating through the leaves. The first one is a nice composition, but I agree with Villena about the lighting. Maybe just earlier in the day or later? good subjects.
