Hand Caught in the Cookie Jar....or Basket

    Canon EOS 30D
    1/250
    F1.8
    ISO 200

Father-in-law received a get well basket. His wife started taking pictures with her little Nikon Digital P&S.....I took out the 30D.......

Brought the basket over to some window light. First I was bothered my kid kept reaching for goodies then it hit me.....

I cropped it in Photoshop to get rid of excess arm and dark basket corner on the lower right.

    Opinions?

Nice story :^). Nice shot to capture the thief!

On a technical side, the image looks flat (on my monitor). How does the histogram look? I'm guessing it's a little under exposed. I'd pump it up a little.

I agree with Tim, the shot does feel underexposed to me. Nice idea though, would've liked to see the full treat included in the bottom but I still think it works. Maybe touch up the color/exposure and this shot will be superb...and in all honesty...I don't think the kid needs anymore treats

The colors look fine on my monitor...they look natural. I think this picture works partly due to the kid's arm being slightly pudgy.

Do you by any chance have any pictures of this particular scene with the entire child in it? I think that would look good, especially if he/she had a "I'm doing something I'm not supposed to" look on his face.

Seems like a great stock photo shot to me. Maybe more color and "snap."

This REALLY makes me wish I had gotten a shot of the puppy yesterday when she ate a box of white powdered sugar doughnuts. I forgot they were in the truck, stuck her in there, forgot my wallet, ran in the house and came out to see her with her head stuffed in this little box. What little powder she didn't eat was on her face, and the doughnuts were gone.
Those would have been some good pictures too!

I keep coming back to this and I think my problem with the photo is that it needs a little brightening to help the colours pop.

    Composition is fine

That would've been a great idea but the shot was somewhat setup.

I was looking directly over the goodies next to the window and started taking pictures. My son kept reaching in and grabbing something but I tried to stop him. then it occurred his action is worth a photo. So I snatched the muffin from his hand a put it back. I took several shots (the 30D 5fps did well here). Afterwards, I took his muffin back and told him to get it again to try more shots. Ain't I cruel?

I didn't think of other compositions at the time.

For everyone else, I'll pump the color ever so slightly and repost with a larger version.

My kid is pudgy cuz he is 22 months old....he still got lots of baby fat....maybe because he's a baby still

Same kid: Baby + Car Seat + Window Light

    Thanks for everyone's opinion!
