    The Halo Of Saint Francis

Something bothers me about this shot. I would like to know if anyone thinks the same.

The things that I noticed are the soft focus, shallow DOF, the subject is pretty much smack dab in the middle of the frame, and the Saint seems to be leaning to the left of the frame a bit. I like the idea.

Even with the bright colours it still seems a little flat, maybe a vibrance boost.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

judging from the specular highlight on his left shoulder (camera right) your white balance is WAY off.

Thanks all. I was concerned with the reflections that I thought might draw attention to the fact that it is a cd.

oh, wow, thought it was lights, just noticed the CD after you said it. It's nice and creative. I agree with Jet that the colour balance is off. too yellow. THe focus also seems to be more on his chest than his face. Having said that I like the feeling of this and the creativity behind it.

Thanks. Especially pointing out the focus, I see that now.

Re: The Halo Of Saint Francis

Hey Arne, in the first one the corners were absent. That was one of the strengths of the photo. not knowing it's a CD. it was a nice crop.

In this version. The circular shape of the CD is clear and hence it loses the mystery of the first. Also having those 4 blue corners take away from the shot itself.

The focus however seems better in version 2.

Thanks, Liban, you are correct. Here is a crop with a few minor adjustments as well.
