    Amanda..

what?? 16 yrs old? you have quite a bit of talent there!! Those are some suberb shots!
Your sense of composition is just impeccable.
I love them all, but my absolute favs are # 2 and # 5 on the first link.Oh, and # 6 is quite beautiful Also would you share your method for shooting these? What kind of settings. In some, it looks like you were using a telephoto lens. Were you? Your photos show some amazing natural gift you have. It's fresh, it's different, it's extremely well done. I can seriously see your guitar series on the wall in an art show.

But wait..there's more! After reading your profile (in the blog), your interest is mathematics? And....what the heck?? You listen to Simon and Garfunkel? I quit. You are an enigma.

These are all really good. Very interesting composition. The out of focus highlights on the necklace in the 2nd shot is a nice element.

You've got a good eye, lots of creative talent, and an excellent working knowledge of apertures/DOF. Keep it up.

Amanda, you have a great eye for what you are doing and DOF is used very well. I love black and white photos, but to me, too many of them get pretty boring pretty fast. Just my opinion...

    they all have life

Like I said they all have life and a story to tell..they aren't just your static "guitar shots"(which I'm very gui;ty of) These really have have agreat sense of composition and as it's been mentioned before I won't tell you how great I think your mastery of DOF field is
    ;)

Really these are quite good...I'd love to see more especially in color...color isn't for eevryone but I think you have a wonderful talent that should be used to it's fullest potential...I don't have a lot of time these days to come on here but I will definitely look out for your stuff...take care

    how..

    thank you for the comments!

micheal, thank you for your opinion on black and white ..i know what you mean, alot of people throw things into b&w for an easy 'artsy' feel ...i simply only used b&w film because that's all i had access to chemicals for heh ... i'm doing more work in colour now ...digitally ..but as of yet i've just been playing around with it, getting a feel for the camera ..nothing serious ..as you can see in the poor quality of my colour photos throughout the rest of the blog...

ok... as for how these were taken...

i turned a corner of my bedroom into a make shift studio for a week heh... i get great natural light in my room ..and i've got really light walls, great for reflecting the light ...i draped a white sheet ...actually, it was my bedskirt heh... in the corner and shone my ceiling lights ...which are sort of a track light/spot light style, into that area just to brighten it up (i hate using flash ...it's flat and harsh) ...i used my computer lamp as a spotlight to highlight different areas ..adjusting it for each individuals shot ( i've since decided i should look into a real spotlight ...and rig it up to a tripod)
as for the camera setting... ..i used my minolta xd11 with a 55mm lens.. i had to keep the apature wide (1.7 for most) such that i could have a decent shutter speed ....this worked well to acheive the dof i desired anyways..
in the darkroom i just used low filters i believe ( i don't know much about filters... heh) and printed them as 8 x10 bleeds ...which i don't like doing, as it cuts up the original composition ...but, i'd gotten used to it, and took the shots with cropping off the ends in mind
...after scanning them i had to up the contrast a bit, as my scanner seems to take something away from photos

..um..i hope that's not too much of a bore to read lol

I love your b&w shots. There are photographers that are guilty of an easy artsy look when they shoot b&w but when you show as much talent in your work as you do you won't be guilty of that. If you haven't already start shooting portraits of really interesting looking people (not just cute and beautiful). Get a portfolio together and start knocking on some doors.

    Amanda,
These are really great! Completely unordinary. I like that you've added people to your subjects, but the focus is still on the guitar.
    Keep posting~
