    Great Smoky Mountains

Hello, I posted a few photos on the ViewFinder board, and received a suggestion that this was a good place for critque (hence the clever name, I guess ). Anyway, would love some feedback on the photos below. I'm self taught, so I need all the help I can get.

    Re: Great Smoky Mountains

First of all, you captured some nice stuff here.

For #1 I'd like it zoomed in just a little more with less stem and more butterfly. The contrast between the b-fly's blue and the flower is great and really needs to be promoted. I think the wings are slightly soft from movement, but not a problem in my opinion. I do wish I could see his/her's legs but that's all right also as the majority of the wings are very nice. But definitely crop a little tighter. If you remove some of the blue sky on the left it will bring the butterfly off from center which would be good.

As for #2, what a cute shot! I like it very much and it's a keeper. Only complaints (not big ones) are the horizon through the head, although with this subject I don't think you likely had much of an option, and the fact that it is so centered. But, I'm kind of thinking the centering works on this one since it's a peekaboo shot. I wish I could be so lucky with a little fawn like that!
