    Great Salt Lake Evening

Took these shots a few weeks ago out by the great salt lake while my brother and sister were skim boarding. They're both a bit extreme. The first one is on the contrast and the second on the light. What do you think or recommend?

Really digging the second shot, nice capture, but I dont think the flare is working favorably here though, especially the 2 red hexagons.

In the first, I'm very distracted by the hot spot in the water.

I like the top one, great tonal range and interesting composition. Too bad the person isn't a bikini babe showing off her summertime figure (apologies to your brother - lol).

The bottom one has decent color, good composition. Yeah the flare is a negative, though in some ways, it is interesting. What you can go to minimize it is use more of a wide-open aperture. Or so they say ..

A skimboard at GSL?! Incongruous to say the least but perhaps it works. At any rate, I too like the top image, though I would prefer to have the figure further to the right of the image and so walking into the frame not out of it. The second image is kind of cool in a Barclay James Harvest sort of way, but the hexagonal flare images very much distract.
