    The Great Challenge..

Ok shooters I'm laying down the gauntlet..Submit your best/favourite image you have posted in the last 12 months..I hope we can coerce mtbbrian to judge the best images 1st,2nd & 3rd places..This should be fun and give us the opportunity to show case our best work..

    Here are a few rules..

    1. Image must have been submitted in the last 12 months..
    2. One image only per photographer..
    3. Image to be unedited as first posted..
    4. Include equipment used.Camera,lens,flash etc..
    5. Exposure details if possible.Shutter speed,aperture,ISO etc..
    6. Deadline is Sunday 11/12th November (depending what hemisphere you live in)..

Give a brief description on why you think it is your best/favourite image..Nothing works as well as self promotion:blush2:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is my favourite image titled "Old Soldier"..
Shot in Luang Prabang in the Northern Highlands of Laos..I only managed to get one crack at this ellusive fellow before he disappeared..
I like the lines on his weathered face and the vacant stare in his expression..I believe this image has a great tonal range and lighting isn't too bad either..

    Re: The Great Challenge..

    Excellent idea!!

I attach Anchorman, a pic I posted last June. It was taken in Trieste when we were getting off a cruise ship to have a look around. Why do I like it? The reason is simply because it is a bit "different"! I took about 300 pics over the two weeks of the cruise, but this is the one I come back to. Incidentally, it won a "Highly Commended" in one of my camera club's competitions in October. Pentax *ist DL and Pentax 18-55 kit lens.

Incidentally, perhaps you ought to ask a moderator to put this thread as a sticky?

    Cheers
    Mike

jumping on the bandwagon here... Attached is "Journey" and I like this photo compositionally because it is, IMO, metaphorical for life in a way. I also like the way the soft tones and the lighting highlights the distance. Taken with a Nikon 5700 in the Laurel Highlands north of Pittsburgh.

    "Reflections"

Posted in June this year. f5.6@ 1/640 sec. 31mm with a D70. ISO 200. Natural light. Time of day-- 10:20 am
I liked the way the concave windows reflected the street scene.

Learning to Shoot - because it was the only one of my more recent photos that didn't involve massive amounts of contrast, and because I just enjoy pictures of my family. That's all.

Thank you guys for all of your help in the last few months. I feel my skills have grown. I hope to learn even more in the next year. One day I going to get good at this.
I found out today I have a ruptured disk in my back. My golfing days maybe over. I guess this will be my new hobby. When can you call yourself photographer? Do you have to make a living at it?

Yes, but I have enough overly-sensitive photographers, even including a few moderators, who can't take critique or comments, ready to burn me at the stake etc. already.
