Gray day

This was taken locally on our stormy day in western washington. I've bumped the hue/saturation and light with just a bit of a crop in ps elements.

Frog - the fog and general subdued effect is good, but I dont like the placement of the poles in the shot. One of the standard compositions might have worked better here - see the attached crop. Otherwise, the colors are relaxing.

Having shot in a lot of fog, this summer, I have found that some of the options in Paint Shop Pro break through the fog a little.

Thankyou, GB and MB. I think the crop is maybe a bit too much but I do think you are right that it needs some.
Ronnoco, I don't know if I can do that in elements 5.0 but it did bring things out for sure.

Now can someone tell me why the edges are grayed out more than the center?
I can't remember if it was actually clearer in center when I took the photo which I took sticking the camera out the window of my car.
I have quite a few of this particular scene and intend to take many more.

What about this crop, a more panoramic look. The fog or haze is a little thicker on the left side than the right but it's still a great picture. I like the post just where they are. Neat picture Frog....

The major problem is that the original is too foggy, to the extent that the centre of interest is totally obscured. That means that the photo does not work and is not effective.
The ONLY answer, if possible, is to bring back the centre of interest into somewhat sharp delineation and if possible to even add some colour as well for some impact.

Mist can be effective, especially if it is being burned off by the sun and there is some bright colours coming through. Fog is NOT effective, if it is obscuring the subject.

This is not a personal opinion. This is basic photography.

Ronnoco, I understand what you are saying.
I have actually shot mist pictures in this same place and they are better.
I was trying to capture a mood but maybe there is too much there and a single object in the fog would be better.
