Nice late/early diffused light for the colors and drama in the clouds - but I think the square format of your Yashica may have done better to allow more at the bottom to balance this one out.

I did not have the 6x6 then and I was traveling light. I was actually in route in a taxi when I had him stop. It was snap n go ... wish I had more time but business called.

I like the light first off!
It only enhances the color of the building, plus it it constrasts very well against the dark blue of the sky.
I like how you put the trees in the foreground it gives a little scale, but it would have been nice to see a bit more of the building.

The lighting brings the mosque out strong from the sky. the clouds add a good bit of tension. I agree with Tuna about bring a little more bottom into the scene, but the overall composition looks fine and well balanced to me. It also would have been nice to not have that tree in the middle blocking the building, but still a pleasing image. good work

Trees in front of the Grand Mosque - the Grand Mosque is about 250 yards end-to-end so if I would have gone inside the trees which suround the G. M. a 19mm fish eye would have only captured a small percentage of the building and the towers would have been pointing to 10 and 2 not to 12.

Nice shot, Tom, and welcome. It would have been nice to have had a little more on the bottom, but a pretty good capture for what you had at the time. The lighting is just right and brings out the colors of the mosque really well. The deep blue of the sky contrast nicely. I think the trees add to it because that is not something I would think you would see much of over there.

Now if I can talk my nephew into taking a trip over there, I might check it out myself. :D

The best word I can think of to describe this shot is "Majestic"! Really a fantastic image! The only things that bothers me are the dark spots in the sky around the left tower. They might be birds, but at this distance it is hard to tell that from flaws in the image.

Congrats on the sticky! Really great shot, especially for a "Stop the cab!" shot! :)
