    Grabbing a drink

This dog who just loved the fountains in my local town square and kept chasing them so had to get a few shots. This was my favourite.

    Any critique appreciated.

    Re: Grabbing a drink

Its a fun photo but the colors are rather bland.
Might work better cropping from left past the stroller and from bottom up a ways from fountains rim.
Must have been fun to watch.

    Oh no, don't crop it.
The arc of that water leading to the dog makes it in portrait.

Try laying the golden spiral on this imag,e you'll see why it works with that water.

    Re: Grabbing a drink

This is a fun scene, but I wish I could see the dogs face. Any other shots with the face visible?
The image could use a levels adjustment to get some whites back into the scene. As it is now, the image is very gray all around.
I am curious as to why you had your aperture at 18. There would be no reason for such dof. As a matter of fact, you would want to blur out the distractions in the bg. Also, more important than trying to get everything sharp with that f-stop is having a faster shutter speed to ensure the freezing of motion and sharpness in turn.
An aperture of f8 could have brought very good sharpness and dof, allowed you to use ISO400 and still have a much faster shutter speed than you had here. Just something to think about.
I like the moment, but wish the face was more in view.
    Nice.

Needs to be a bit brighter--more beta and contrast. Even black and white would work with this. It's a great spontaneous shot.

Great subject, dull lighting. What did England ever do to deserve overcast skies all the time? You could bring out some brightness in post processing, plus crop in a bit.
