Goodbye Summer!

I spend four days in a cabin visiting the North Shore of Lake Superior, MN. The weather was terrible: rain, overcast, fog. This is why I took some pictures from my room. This one I called 'goodbye summer'.

This is fine, you made the best of a lousy situation. This does bring me the feeling of the end of summer. My only nitpik here is that had you moved over to the right a bit, the edge of the leaf would not ride on the edge of the chair outside. Not a big issue at all.

To me the placement of the leaf in the image and against the background is a big issue and keeps this from being a fine image. This is the element most under the phtographers control and the leaf is just in the wrong place for me.

Great idea though, I'll have to try something like this the next nasty day we have......

Thank you for your comments. I agree that the leaf position could be better. Unfortunately I cannot fix this problem. I am 300 miles away from this cabin and now in Minneapolis we have 80 F with very low humidity.

Yup, the leaf placement is the only problem to another wise great photo!

The feeling "goodbye summer" is there though!

Au contrare...I was struck by the leaf position. It seemed aligned with the chair outside and I said to myself "how charming."

To me it's less of a leaf placement issue and more of too much of nothing at the top. Just crop off some off the top of the photo and it changes the feeling of the scene (makes it darker and moodier).
