    Golden Coast

So i'm still learning HDR Shop and the basics of HDR. I knew I was breaking a guideline for HDR shooting when I shot with a dynamic foreground (surf break) and at a bad time of day for it (dusk) But I wanted to give it a shot anyway.

So the assembled product was a bit washed out, so I put it in fireworks and started trying to correct it with curves, messed up, but the results were pleasing to me.

I know the sky is blown out, but I like the image, thought i'd share.

I guess as long as your are learning, I don't know what to say that you already haven't.

Washed out comes to mind but you already said that too.

Kind of a burnt earth kind of thing?

This is a job for Russel Brown's tips and technics. He has a website and is one of the developers of Photoshop. There is a section on blown out skies.

Too bad all the people who know how to run this country are busy running taxicabs or cutting hair.

dont have photoshop. I used HDR Shop and fireworks. I wonder if any free fireworks plugins or HDR assemblers take the EXIF data so i dont have to spend all the time setting up the aperture differences so I can focus more on the curves and stuff?

Looks like Mars! If it was just a little wider angle it might pass for that. And it would prove that water exists there.

This HDR stuff sounds interesting - I will have to play with it once I get a digital camera.

If you don't have Photoshop, I would suggest you take a look at Corel Paint Shop Pro X1 which is much cheaper at under $100 and yet very similar with some great features and sophistication. I use both.

I'll pass for now on this money spending nonsense. I'm still a poor college student.

I believe that Corel also has pretty good student discounts too. And I also think that they have a 30-day trial, if you just want to play around with it.

the blown sky spoils it.. a cokin grad was needed.. nothing will put back detail that has been blown.. the secret is not to blow it in the first place..
