Going Underground...

Not sure why but I often take shots on the Underground, often late in the evening after a night out. This is one of the more recent ones, which I thought turned out ok. As always, if you have any thoughts I'd be very happy to hear them.

I like the pic matt,

the composition is quite strong and the slight movement of the people works well, as they are slightly undefined.

Its an interesting shot and captures the underground well, and the lights converging in to meet the escalator at the top makes for a well thought out view point.

The only thing about it is that it seems slightly tilted to the right, only very slightly but it detracts a little from the image, easy fix........

Great symmetry, and having the people in the top left just adds to this picture so much. I agree about it being tilted a tad, and with a picture that has so many lines it can be quite distracting. Nice black and white and very effective!

It is somewhat tilted (and I get the felling that you probably weren't perfectly facing the scene which slightly mess with perspective) but I love the composition. The ladies at the top are perfectly located, it adds a lot to the picture.

These elevators in the Tube stations make great subjects. I really like the metallic feel to this and the b/w shows it off exactly as it really is.

Hey Matt,

Did you shoot this location before? It looks similar to something posted a while back...

If you did, I think this composition works much better. I recall a column in the way or something. Good shot...

Hello there, thanks for the comments. It is a bit irritating about that tilt, it was originally worse, and I thought I had corrected it, but clearly not enough for the sharp eyes of the photographyreview.com crowd. I'm not sure how to correct in less than 1 degree increments, will have to look into it.

Tim, the shot you are thinking of was a different one taken at Canary Wharf. This is Bond Street I think, or maybe not, I forget!

I've got a shot of Westminster as well which isn't too bad, so I'll put it here as well just for fun! I think it is the combination of lighting and perspective you get in the tube that appeals to me:

Are you using Photoshop? Use the measure tool and measure along a line that should be horizontal. Then choose the rotate canvas command. The correct angle is automatically entered for you in fractional degrees.

i love (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) both shots... they both capture the somewhat surreal lighting of the tube extremely well. I spent a week in london this summer and i always wanted to get a good shot in the tube station, but timing and my freinds rushing were not working in my favor...
