    Glass Elephant

Took this picture this afternoon, so I thought I would share it with all of you. I have a couple different ones, but I really like the shadow of the elephant in this one which is why I chose it. Any comments are welcome. Thanks

I would like to see it not so tightly cropped, if you like the shadow then surely it's worth showing all of the shadow?

Amber,,,,great image for your first post..Glass (and water for that matter) is probably the most difficult subject to shoot...Horrible reflections and flair cause headaches to photographers unless the lighting has been set up perfectly...Your exposure here is pretty well spot on without too many hotspots and burned out highlights..Colour is also good..
Now here come the negative ....I'm not too keen on the shadow cast in the background,,,some may like it...Also,,IMHO the subject is shot just a tad too tight..

Amber, not bad . I agree with the others about this being cropped too tightly. I think the shadow here is interesting (usually they are a distraction) but feel it would benefit by showing more space around it.

    Re: Glass Elephant

I have stared at this for some time and because its so tight and the shadow cut off I not sure it works here.

The base needs to sit on a matt black surface to try and stop some of the reflections in the base because at the moment it looks messy to me.

The last thing is - was this scanned in from film? or is the dust on the base?

However saying that the lighting is excellent on the glass, Nice shot.
