    Gift part 2

Here is another shot from a different angle and a little lighter. I appreciate the feedback and comments.

This one is a lot more pleasing in detail but lacks the drama of the previous presentation. I think they are both quite good. My eye REALLY likes

Sorry, keyboard collapsed and truncated my previous post. My eye really likes contrast so I would like to see more in this shot, but I am kind of strange...

I like this one, but I like the other one better. The sheer beauty of the statue is appealing here as is the lighting on her. I don't like the surroundings here as well, I think because I keep trying to read what's on either side as well as her shadow kind of bothers me -- I think because it messes with the words. Though you have filled the frame with her, the centeredness just doesn't work as well as the other, IMHO.

This has been a learning experience to say the least. And daq7 there is nothing wrong with your taste. I usually go for more contrasty dramatic lighting and thank you SheBang for your honesty. I am not going to grow as a photographer, unless I get the truth about what is wrong with a photo. So thank you again.

I think moving the lady a little more to the right in the frame with her head leaning into the shot would have been a slightly better composition plus adding a little more room on the left for the writing to be seen. A little more space at the top too. Cloudy days works better for statues. Nice work on the B&W conversion.

Thanks for the advice Greg. Next time I go back I will try the perspective you suggested.
