Don, I like the pose in the 2nd better. What makes the shot for me is the shadow of the cat against the door. I would almost call it "me and my shadow" or something like that ...a little blown in the white around her nose ...maybe you can pull back on the highlights a bit? Another thought ...coming at the same level with the cat and taking the shot make increase the drama ....not sure - may be for the next time?
I only took a shot of a cat once, recently in Ireland...here it is:
I think I like the first one better. More intrigue in the profile to me and without the blown highlight of the second. I agree the shadow really makes it an interesting shot for either one.
