    Re: Geometry

I like the idea. The geometry is good. I'm not sure that alone can hold my attention though. I need something else.

I think I like the idea, but the key feature are all the horizontal lines ...I am not sure I really like the two posts in the left side of the frame....

    Re: Geometry

I think the composition is perfect and this is something I would have walked right by and not seen the shot in it. You have a good eye. I wonder would a person in the upper right setting on the steps would help or hurt the shot?

I am big b/w fan so this image grabs my attention. If there were another element (person, bird,) somewhere in the shot it might make it even stronger.

    Re: Geometry

    thanks for the comments

I stared at this for a while before taking a shot, a person walking down the stairs would have been great, and there were plenty , but all bunched up, not someone alone

I go to the zoo 2 or 3 times a year , so I'll retry eventually

    Re: Geometry

Armando, this one drives me crazy I am guessing that the steps have curved over time (or were never straight), but it's also possible that your lens has a little distortion.

I agree that the vertical columns don't make the shot better, but I can live w/ them. That upper left small diagonal I don't like though. Would be easy to remove them ..

Very nice contrast on the right diagonal side. Less contrast on the left for some reason(???)

    Definitely an attention-getting photograph.

    Re: Geometry

Greg the left side is a fountain, and painted light green therefore the lower contrast vs the plain concrete on the right

I'm sure the lens has some distortion and also the steps are not straight

    Re: Geometry

Congrats on the sticky Armando! This one's certainly offbeat: maybe you should print it out fairly big and see how it looks.

    Re: Geometry

Congratulations on the featured photo, Armando.

To the mods, what factors did you consider in making the selection? I had trouble getting engaged with this one and am curious what appealed to you. Please understand that I am not critiquing the photo or the decision, I jus think explaining it some might help me better understand the photo.

    Re: Geometry

I suppose you would call this a really nice abstract, I like the diagonal element dividing the frame and the two vertical elements in the top half stopping it from being too symmetrical . I think I might have cropped the top to remove those pillars top right as they don't seem to add anything.
    Congrats on feature though.....

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

I have no issues with you editing my photos
