    Geometrics - B/W

There have been several excellent architectural shots lately and I thought I would offer this b/w shot from my gallery. There is also a color photo, not the same, but same shoot position light time of day etc in the gallery for comparison if you are intereseted -

The color version was better for my tastes, I dont think it can be improved upon.

personally, i like the b&w copy more. there's something about the color copies that are taken at multiple exposure settings and combined to give that tonal range that look just weird to me. i think its more the halo-ing effect around the buildings in the color copy that distract me. they aren't as evident in the b&w copy and you focus more on the buildings and the patterns within them. just me though...

    really nice shot.

DRG - This one has potential. I like the smooth lines and the hint of sky. I also find the aspect ratio very interesting (unconvential too). This might look good printed out on a big paper.

drg, this works for me immediately as did the color version. I like this but feel the color version offers a greater feeling of depth and I think ultimately holds my interest longer. As Pete stated, the halos around the buildings in the color version are a bit on the down side, but still, I find the overall impact of that color shot to be greater on me than the b&w. Both are very good to begin with.

I think this picture works well both ways. Most often I can tell right away weather I like color or B&W best but this is a toss up. It's a great picture either way.

Thanks for all the comments and ideas.

This is a slightly different photograph from the color and not just a conversion of it. I've been working on making portraits of buildings for some time, i.e. the portrait aspect and thus also needed to produce one in b/w as well as color. I do appreciate those who take the time to share their impression and 'take' on these.
