    Gathering Storm

I took this last summer with my p & s, as a storm was beginning to form. I chose this crop to surround the bright clouds with the darkness of the incoming storm clouds, and the balance of the trees in silhouette underneath. I wanted to illustrate the feeling of the impending storm destroying the calm of a beautiful day.

Would like to see more of the dark and stormy clouds. Good use of the trees to help provide internal framing with this photograph.

If the blue sky opening in the clouds led to a really dark or ominous formations this could be quite powerful. I'm not real sure that the square proportion lends much to this image. Square formats often detract from any natural panorama of a photo. They can emphasize a particular element or theme but in this case it isn't working for me.

Nice catch of contrast with the shadows and light in the clouds.

i really like the cemetrical balance you have captured in this shot
like on the left are the trees and on the top right is a dark cloud
    i like the frameing

I understand what you're saying. In the original shot my neighbor's house took up a good portion of the right side of the frame, and on the left side, the trees mostly dominated, so I cropped this way to give better balance.

Interesting shot, though I'd find this as more as a background than a full shot. My eye wanders, trying to find a definate subject. The idea (and title) is a great addition, but this shot isn't doing much for me.

I agree with DRG, it doesnt seem like a storm to me. Instead, maybe very bright rays of sun poking through some dark areas that are out of the frame. But the colors are pretty here
