    Garden Geometry

This is the 2nd old Hacienda still-life that I am considering. I hope to give a garden print to our host here. She has superb taste in art, and I want to give her something that she would appreciate.

    I thank you in advance,
    Tim

Tim...I like this shot a bit better than your other of the garden...I think the shapes connect better in this. I especially like the top of the column, where the little sphere is actually half...and it goes well with the old wheel. Again, as with the other shot...the textures are lovely.

Tim - yes, the photo has a lot of very nice things happening in it. The column and the wheel are excellant solid geometry objects, broken up by both symmetric and asymmetric textures (I also like how the wheel is clipped off at the ~ 3/4 pt). The only part of the photo that I feel needs some post-editing is the way the upper right area becomes so bright and fades out: I'd dodge and burn this out somehow, making it a little darker and in line with the rest of the photo's relaxing tones.

While I love the way this is as it sits, I think if you cropped of the bottom portion of grass, it brings out the ferns more and gives it more of a old feel to it. For some reason to me the grass moderns it for me.

    Re: Garden Geometry

    Hi all,

Sorry it took me a little while to get back to you. Business has been busy...

Emily thanks for the nice words. I appreciate it.

GB and Chow, I liked your suggestions and have reposted the image with a few tweaks. I "added" texture to the top bright area (using a clone brush), and I took a little off the bottom. Has this improved the image for you?

    Many thanks,
    Tim
