    Fun with wide-angles

I shot this today with sun right behind my sun and got more flare than I've ever seen in a shot. I photoshopped the worst of it out. The contrast needs a little work still, but all in all I kinda like this. Please share your comments and suggestions...

you're just lucky your lens wasnt real dirty. a dirty lens can make a mess of a shot when the sun flare's it up. yeah like its cool. I dont really even think about wide angle shots anymore because I use them so much so I dont really notice a difference from a regular shot. I probably should. I think a hood would definitly benefit you a huge deal next time around. The angle is creative, but doesnt excite me as much as other photos I have seen with a low point of view like this. Nice colour.

Thanks. I actually had the hood on. There is a small scratch on the rear element that didn't help. I'm a telephoto type guy (most of my shots are taken at 200mm or more) so 20mm feels real wide too me. I'm looking forward to changing things up a little.

I guess we will never be satisfied with just one thing. I feel the exact same way. I usually shoot 14mm-20mm and rarely use my lens to its fullest. But lately I have been intrigued by telephoto lenses and how they can seem to flatten. I am thinking about investing into a telephoto lens or something higher than like 45mm. so I'm looking for longer shots and your getting closer in. haha.

Lava.....I must be missing something, because I don't see these kinds of shots here often. I like it, but as you say, the lens flare kills it.

I like this. Of course, the sun is a reason for concern, but I still think this works. Great colors, wonderful composition, and a nice DOF.

    Well done.
