    Fun with new macro

Picked up a Konica-Minolta DiMAGE Z6 over the weekend and thought I'd test out the macro ability with a few fun shots.

    Neat

Congratulations on the new lens. Macro lenses are cool and open up a whole new world to explore. If you're really serious about macro photography, consider also investing in a macro rail mount for your tripod. That will make a big difference in your macro photos.

As far as the images go, all three are nice. But they really aren't anything special. Do you know about the Rule of Thirds? It advises that you divide your images into a grid of nine and always place your main subject(s) on the grid lines. It's a very effective tool for creating interesting and dynamic compositions. In your three photos the main subject is right smack in the middle. Notice that when you look at them your eye will get trapped right in the middle of the image. Take a look at some images with the subject off to the side and notice how your eye travels around the scene noticing more details. That's what the Rule of Thirds can do for you.

Have fun with the new lens. Hope my advice helps. Rule are made to be broken, but the Rule of Thirds is a pretty sure thing.
