    I like it. The composition and placement of the person and ball are very good. the Dof is good as well. The blur on the ball doesn't bother me at all, i think it adds to the action feel. Now for the nitpicking! The only thing that bothers me a bit is the back drop and the fact that there's a house there. I think it woulda worked better had it been grass or even trees at a distance.

    Over all very nice.

    Not enough DOF in combination with distracting background makes this photograph lose the potential it would have had.

    I don't have a proble with the DoF, but it looks over-sharpened.
    I'd prefer the ball closer to the boot, and yes the background is distracting.
    But not all pitches have good backgrounds.

    If you have to deal with the background that you have than DOF does matter in this example.

    My only problem is the picture appears washed out... I think maybe a little contrast and sat mike help make this picture "pop" a little more?

    I agree to could use some pop. Maybe bring out some tones in the face. The composition is fine. Nice work.
