    Friends ?

I had some trouble with a close friend ...

The situation inspired me to shoot this photo

    Re: Friends ?

    Armando,

Hmm. It looks technically right for the most part, but although I think it's OK to have the wrist fading out I think I would like to see the entire palm in focus (its fading out in the bottom right area). The stark black is OK I think, but somehow the hand and background don't completely synchronize .. not sure why. Maybe the hand needs different lighting, or more detail.

However, this is the type shot that I see in art exhibits in museums, so you must be doing good here

I know , also would have liked the focus to start at or close to the wrist

I did not feel like taking out the tripod and setting up the remote, just held the camera with my left hand

This is gorgeous. Maybe to make the hand have a bit more contrast, to see the lines more defined, that would make it stand out a bit more. All in all it is wonderfully done. 10 out of 10

    Re: Friends ?

To me it says 'reaching out'. It does that well. I don't think it's easy to convey such an exact emotion using a photo. Someone else trying it, might have gotten it to say 'begging' by accident. Just by a small variation of the hands pose. I think this one says 'reaching out' very much.

I agree about the focus. It's a bit off. but it doesn't destroy the feeling of the shot. The stark black and white was also a good choice imo.

    Re: Friends ?

Very good! I agree about the pose. A subtle difference in the hand position (or camera angle) would have communicated something entirely different.

Love the black and white processing and the lighting.

I'm really not sure if the shallow dof detracts or not. I agree (again) with Liban that it certainly doesn't destroy the feeling of the shot.
