    French sceneries

It's been ages since I last posted something. So, here are a few shots from my short trip to the south of France this year. The first two are from the ancient city of Carcasonne, the third one is from Cirque Du Navacelles.
Specs: shot with Canon EOS600 on Sensia 100 slide film. Scanned with Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III and converted to B/W in Photoshop.

    Any feedback is appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Frank

Great subjects and i like the compositions of all three. The first two, of the ancient city, I think are strongest. I have to say that at least onj my monitior they all seem to be too dark. the first is my pick for the best of the three as I can see detail and shadows.
btw, I use the same scanner. How do you like it?

Thanks Gary. Yeah, I now also notice that they are too dark on my (work-)monitor as well. I will check with my home-monitor this evening to see if there's a lot of difference.

As for the scanner, I think the quality it provides is very good. Only problem I have with it is that it gets stuck after 5 or 6 scans. I have to switch both the scanner and the software application off and restart them. Looks like there is cache being built up or something like that. Do you have this problem as well?

    Cheers,
    Frank

Very nice shots. I like the second one the best, the composition is very strong and I really like the lines of it. All three of them seem a bit dark on my screen but I think you have some very nice shots here.

Yes, the same thing happens to me, but not as often. Sometimes I can run through 10 -15 scans without problem but every so often it will stop or freeze and have to restart scanner and software. i think it just the software issue. i find it happens more often when using 8x multipass, but when I use 4x it usually doews not happen. I find it to be a good scanner, although a bit slow.

Greg, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Indeed, the images are a bit dark, I will try to 'redo' them so that they show some more details.

Gary, glad to hear that I'm not the only one suffering from this scanner problem. I've tried using Vuescan as an alternative software program, but this gave the same problem. What I think may cause this is the fact that the scanner has a USB2.0 connection while my computer is still on 1.1. Anyway, if you switch the scanner and software off and on every now and then, you will be able to get some fine quality scans with it.

    Cheers,
    Frank
