    Four UnderCover

part of a series. Your thoughts. Converted to b&w, grafitti colors were left in.

Gary, You make me enjoy what I usually systematically dislike (colours elements against b&w backdrops...). The effect here is surprisingly subtle. Have you partly desaturated the grafitti's colours?

Also, I would assume that you select the grafittis with the magic wand or the magnetic lasso and then invert your selection to convert it in b&w?

    The lighting is especially beautiful.

Seeing the rows of bricks at angle looks odd though. I assume that the floor is in slope (hence the chained cans) and I would prefer to see the scene that way.

Glad you find it interesting, Seb. I tried it a few different ways but found that I liked it best with the Cans being leveled. I may be experimenting further with that as you mntion it.As far as technique, it would not work well to select these areas as they ( the grafitti for example) fade out and don't have a defintive edge. Again, layers were used with erasing the appropriate areas to achieve a smoother effect. And yes, only partly saturated and not full color against b&w. Thanks for the time

    Hi Gary

I like the way you manipulate this photo for the colors to stand out and the rest in b&w.
I have been following your series and the other one you have of the can ( with the eyes ) were also nicely done.

Black and white photo's are not really my favourites , but you are starting to change my way of looking at them . And it is becoming more interesting to me .

Regards ( and Merry Christmas to you and your family and all the people from this forum .)
    God bless

Good photo. I like b/w and partial b/w, I actually just submitted my fist photo here and it is a partial b/w. Anyway. I do like your work. I wonder how this would look centered. Did you take one that way. I'd like to see it if you did.

James. . .really appreciate your thoughts and kind sentiment. Happy holidays.

CP. . . . No, I only have this composition but I tried centering the cans with a crop which does not look bad but I feel like having the more wall behind them puts the cans "in their place". I will take surely take a look a your thread. Thanks for the time

Very creative! It looks like a scene out of "Sky Captain and the World of Tommow" Creates a very sureal emotion to it. I love your photoshop techniques, trying to adopt a few. Thanks Gary

This is a neat picture. If it were mine I think I would crop some off the bottom and a tad off the left side.

I like the use of color.
