    At the Fountain

There is a new toy in Rome, this fountain. I have been there several times trying different shots. This is the only one I am remotely happy with so what do you think?

Great shot Greg, kind of has a retro look to it. Too bad you didn't get the top of the water in there.

    How can I be lost
If I've got nowhere to go?

+1 ... top of the water and maybe a little sky.... was this spur of the moment?

Thanks Tyson, Phil. Yes to get the top of the fountain would mean a wider lens. Backing up doesn't work it brings in to many distractions. It is always crowded here.

This picture is great. Is it done on film? very good job. the little girls interaction with the man sitting down is great and I think it works even with the top of the fountain cut off.

I was wondering the same thing - what did you shoot this with? If it's digital, what was the conversion process? You did a fine job with the b&w.

B&W is my favorite, but I can't seem to get the tone and contrast right with digital. I'd like to know how you did this.

    Thanks Greg.

Marco, Liz this was with the EP-1. Converted to B&W in Lightroom and tweaked with CS4 I added just a touch of film grain and played with it in channel mixer. Lightroom has a high contrast pre-set but usually it takes some exposure, fill light and shadow adjustments to get it just right. Then to CS4 to clone a couple of distractions and as I wrote a very small amount of film grain and a channel mixer adjustment. High contrast days are great for B&W. Something I learned from Tuna.
