    Forest Walk

Went out for a walk in the rain on Saturday. Was it worth it?

Well that is a nice moody image. I like the path leading me into the scene but all those tree limbs going out the top of the image take away something.

    Yes, it was worth it!

I like this composition a lot, and everything seems to be sharp. I'm a big fan of forest shots and trail shots. The only thing that bothers me is the color. It looks too yellow. I think it could benefit from a boost in blue or reduction in yellow, unless this was your intent.

    Great job!

    MB, Paul,

Thanks for the comments - I'm still undecided about this shot - the limbs going out of the picture doesn't bother me but it feels empty which is possibly where the mood comes in. I was actually out trying to find the deer that can be found here sometimes but they were hiding from the weather.

The yellow light is what was there which is why in some parts I took the photo. The drizzle was allowing just enough light permeated the canopy to bring up the green/yellow in the Forest.

This is take at ISO 1600 using a 100-400mm lens (100mm) at 1/15th F8 hand held.

Just checked the original and the colours are as the camera saw them. Tried adding blue and didn't like the outcome made it look very cold with a minor adjustment. It was that sort of day that I took 4 photos and couldn't be bothered to unpack the tripod.

    Ho well

i really like the empty. i think you have to be in just the right mood to see this photo and appreciate it. the yellow definitely adds to the feeling of empty and the tree limbs don't bother me at all. they kind of close off the top of the frame. great shot!

I like the overall composition, roger. I agree about the comments on it having too much yellow, but it can work if you wnat it to remain. I do think it looks a bit overexposed and would personally reduce exposure a stop.
    well worth your time . . .

D, Where have you been - not seen you around for a while.

When I took the shot I didn't really think about the speed. I now wish I had the tripod out.

    Thanks for looking.

Roger try adjusting the magenta in the green channel. Something I have been trying lately. Your picture also seems soft and lacks some detail. I agree wuth Garys comments it a little bright but this is well worth a reshoot.

Thanks for all the comments - I will revisit this next week sometime and see what I can do with a reshoot. I have taken all the comments on board and will bear them in mind when shooting.

I will be away for the next 4 days on the boat and the weather people promise some nice weather so hope we get some decent photos.
